PERFORMANCE #AT THE EDGE OF EPIDERMIS

PERFORMANCE

AT THE EDGE OF THE EPIDERMIS

15. – 17.02.2019 LICHTHOF Theater, Hamburg, Infos

We try to scrape, shake off, shed our stories. You apply scents and creams in a circular motion to add something to the boundaries between you and the world. I have my wrinkles smoothed out, I shave my hair and clean up every imperfection and resistance until I’m as smooth as Plexiglas, until everything shines and we slip on each other.

At the interface of biology, performance and poetry, Glitch AG explores the phenomenon of the skin as a border organ. What does the epidermis – as the first perceivable boundary – tell us about other boundaries in which we live? In Am Rand der Epidermis, biological knowledge is transformed into word and sound material, scars are celebrated and faces turn red, boundaries are violated and new ones set.

The basis for the performance is Anna Hubner’s drama text of the same name, which was nominated for the Retzhofer Drama Prize in 2017.
